When Thou art Converted

Seek the words of Christ! Whereever you can find them. Cultivate that relationship with a loving father. He will guide you. Everywhere you turn there are little bits of the gospel. Put yourself in a position to pick those up. They will, however pass you by if you are not careful. It is those little things that add up over time to create a precious and beautiful work.

As you are working toward perfection, share with others. Help others recognize the light that the gospel has been in your life. Share experiences, the hard times as well as the good. It is in the trial that our faith is tested and our testimony born.

The light that is in you will lighten the lives of others. It will cause peace, harmony, and happiness to come into the lives of those you touch. These are the fruits of your labors here on earth. After this life you will rejoice together. You will be saviors on mount Zion!

What a great oppertunity!

I said in the last post that I was starting my new years resolution this week with Alma 13. I began reading and the first thing that jumped up at me was that as priesthood holders we are the teachers. Teach what you know. Share your testimony...to anyone that will listen. Make time to be the instrument that your father needs.

It is not about being overbearing. It is a simple nudge, an invitation to come and see! Come unto Christ and be perfected in him.

My prayer is that we teach in our homes the scriptures and words of a modern day prophet. Seek to be there. Help others where ever you can. We must remember that the gospel is for everyone, not a select few!

My Mother In Law used to always tell us "No Empty Chairs" She wanted all of her family around her in heaven. Her goal was to instill in all of us her desire to see all of us together again at the table of the Lord's Banquet.

So, I say to all this life is a time for us to repent... to come unto the Father. and leave:

NO EMPTY CHAIRS!!!!

A New Years Resolution

The Lord asks us to learn our duty. That said I have made it my new years resolution to study out what the Lord expects of me as a priesthood holder. Over  a six week period I will study the following:

Alma 13
Doctrine & Covenants  13, 20, 84, 107, 121, 124

Each have guidence to becoming a rightous husband, Father and Priesthood holder.

I have held off making a new years resolution this year because I find that it is hard to keep up with them. I feel very strongly that if I take the time to study each of these sections every six weeks throughout the year great growth will come.

I encourage those who read this...to do the same. That each one of us may learn and grow and share with each other the things that we learn.

Action Required

Everything that we do in life requires us to do something. We are bombarded on every front to make decisions as to our next move.  Those things that motivate us to action are driving us to our destination. Are you happy with the direction that you are taking?

Those around us are looking for something ... someone to lead them to a safe haven. People grasp at straws to have a sense of peace. People want to have that security that they are can find rest.

The comfort and rest that comes a relationship with the Savior. Coming to the knowledge of him  does not come without action. One must seek, Ponder and Pray.

Three, very different yet very simple actions.

Seek, we must search out the Lord. Where can we find that knowledge? In the scriptures. They bring us the knowledge that is needed to cultivate a relationship with our Heavenly Father. The scriptures cause us to think. They help us to make moral decisions and then act on them. The greatest blessing of the scriptures is;  that if we will read with real intent, and if we really have a desire to know what we are to do, then the spirit will teach us(Moroni 10:3-5)!

Second Ponder, too often we are asked to make snap decisions. Under the pretenses that it helps others. While it might in the short term for someone to move, it does not mean that it is the right one. Take time to make the right decision even if you need to table the thought and come back to the need. Short term aggravation may set in. Long term you will be praised for making the right decision. Take the knowledge that you have been presented with. Think about what affect your decision might have on you and on those you care about. It is also important to think about those who are in your stewardship. Create new questions. Seek to be taught.

Third, Pray. Pray where ever you are. seek to have a working knowledge of the things that are of utmost concern to you. Lean on the spirit to be your guide. Prayer shows a willing heart and mind to bend to the will of God. Including him in your life brings you closer to him. Seek him!

By heeding a call to action you will find the greatest happiness and peace!

The power of scriptures

Why is there so much emphasis placed on the scriptures? Why do the scriptures always come up when we have questions?

Nephi taught that the scriptures are a delight. The scriptures have a way of opening the eyes and touching the heart. We feel closer to our Father in heaven.
Through the scriptures we gain great treasures of knowledge. Knowledge that fills our understanding, they allow us to be the instrument in the hands of the father. They teach us of the blessing of living a rightous life. Thereby providing a way to return to the father.

The Scriptures contain the things of God. Nephi taught his brothers that he was commanded to build a ship. But he was to do it a special way. He was to do the way the Lord wanted it built, not after the manner of men. So often the world offers answers to mens questions. Men rely on their own strength and on past experience and leave out the Lord. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! Too often their is a better way, or another way to look at the issue that we are facing. If brought to the Lord, heartache is avoided. Often we can cannot see the fruits of our labors immediatly. But the results will come soon enough.

I would ask you to stop reading right now and make a list. What makes you happy? What gives you pleasure?

Now, that you have a list, what is on that list? Is your scriptures on that list? Is family time on there? The things that bring us the greatest happiness need......must be at the top.

We must realize that scriptures are prophets pointing the way for us. Even though there are many different prophets they all have one focus. To bring men and women to Christ and ultimately to the Father. T

The scriptures are not a history book. They are precious things of God. They are the things that have lasting eternal consequences. They are the things that will bring salvation!
