The power of scriptures

Why is there so much emphasis placed on the scriptures? Why do the scriptures always come up when we have questions?

Nephi taught that the scriptures are a delight. The scriptures have a way of opening the eyes and touching the heart. We feel closer to our Father in heaven.
Through the scriptures we gain great treasures of knowledge. Knowledge that fills our understanding, they allow us to be the instrument in the hands of the father. They teach us of the blessing of living a rightous life. Thereby providing a way to return to the father.

The Scriptures contain the things of God. Nephi taught his brothers that he was commanded to build a ship. But he was to do it a special way. He was to do the way the Lord wanted it built, not after the manner of men. So often the world offers answers to mens questions. Men rely on their own strength and on past experience and leave out the Lord. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! Too often their is a better way, or another way to look at the issue that we are facing. If brought to the Lord, heartache is avoided. Often we can cannot see the fruits of our labors immediatly. But the results will come soon enough.

I would ask you to stop reading right now and make a list. What makes you happy? What gives you pleasure?

Now, that you have a list, what is on that list? Is your scriptures on that list? Is family time on there? The things that bring us the greatest happiness need......must be at the top.

We must realize that scriptures are prophets pointing the way for us. Even though there are many different prophets they all have one focus. To bring men and women to Christ and ultimately to the Father. T

The scriptures are not a history book. They are precious things of God. They are the things that have lasting eternal consequences. They are the things that will bring salvation!
